アメリカでは電話で、日常生活で、アルファベットを使う機会が非常に多いです。

特に日本人の名前は外国人にはわかりにくく『スペルを教えてください。』と言われることも多い。

私たちはアルファベットを一つ一つ言って教えてあげないといけません。

その時に最も通じる言い方を教えます。

数字を正確に伝える

 電話で、医者のアポ取りで、薬局で、保険証番号を言う、生年月日を言う、電話番号、住所を伝える。

アメリカ生活では数字を正確に相手に伝えなければいけないことが多いです。

そういった時にスムーズに会話ができるよう準備しておきましょう。

Proper and safe use of the two-way left turn lane

Pulling into traffic on a busy road safely and legally takes some skill, patience, and a little bit of know-how.

Most lanes have a specific purpose.

The bike lane is for bikes.

The fast lane is for going fast!

The express lane is for 15 items or less.

Traffic coming from either direction can use this single lane to make a left turn.

These lanes are primary used for giving you out of the flow of traffic until it’s clear to safely make a left turn into, say, a parking lot.

But you can also safely pull into this center lane from the parking lot or a drive way.

And use it as a holding zone, where you can wait until it’s clear for you to safely merge into the flow of the traffic (to your right).

But here is the catch.
In both situations, you’re allowed to be stopped in the left turn lane, but you can’t travel in that lane.

Keep in mind this is one lane used by traffic coming from both directions.

There’s a huge potential for head-on collisions.
Which is why you can stop at it, but you can’t drive in it.
